Who faces this barrier locally? Students, particularly in urban areas like Phoenix and Tucson, often do not receive comprehensive education regarding cultural competency. Disparities are magnified for minority students who may not see their cultures represented in the curriculum, leading to a lack of engagement and understanding of their history and identity within the state. Educators may struggle with insufficient training and resources necessary to convey the importance of racial and cultural awareness.
The initiative will fund the development of digital tools aimed at enhancing cultural competency among educators and students in Arizona.
