Summary

This grant is designed for individuals, artist collectives, and nonprofit arts organizations operating in Southern Arizona, including tribal nations and counties from the southern edge of the Gila River down to the U.S.–Mexico border. The purpose is to invest in creative work that strengthens local communities—whether that means an artist developing their practice, a community group activating arts in neighborhoods, or an organization hiring artists to deliver arts‑led services.

Eligible applicants include individual artists (and culture bearers), artist groups or collectives, fiscally sponsored entities, and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations whose work is based in and serves Southern Arizona. The funding is not for purely general operations or maintenance—it is intended for active project work, creative services, or hiring artists to engage underserved or geographically remote communities.

Award levels vary with the type of grant: for individual artists, awards may range up to a few thousand dollars; for nonprofit organizations, the amounts may be higher (for example up to ~ $15,000) to support job creation or arts engagement initiatives. Deadlines depend on the specific program cycle—some open in the early part of the year, others later—and applicants submit online forms with project descriptions, budgets, and evidence of alignment with community arts goals.

The benefit of this opportunity is to help artists and cultural organizations realize meaningful projects that have visible, community‑connected outcomes: workshops, public art, arts‑led community engagement, or programs that bring together artists, schools, civic partners or underserved populations. If you’re an artist, a collective or an arts nonprofit working in Southern Arizona with a project that is ready to go and focused on impact—not just planning—this grant opportunity could be a strong fit.
