The primary groups affected include Native high school and college students, who often find themselves navigating a cultural landscape that does not reflect their history or experiences. The gap in representation can lead to feelings of isolation among youth, making it increasingly important to employ innovative strategies to engage them in their heritage. Local educational institutions frequently lack the resources to incorporate Indigenous media into their curricula, further contributing to the challenge.
The proposed Digital Storytelling Project aims to directly address these issues by providing funding for a digital storytelling initiative that empowers Native youth to document and share their cultural heritage online.
