Non-Profit Grant to Support Innovative Community-Based Projects in Arizona (USA)
GrantID: 8825
Grant Funding Amount Low: Open
Deadline: Ongoing
Grant Amount High: $2,000
Summary
This grant program is available across the state of Arizona. It supports community-based projects, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, government entities, tribal governments, and other eligible public or academic bodies — not for for-profit businesses. The grant funds are intended for public humanities programming: activities that draw on history, culture, literature, philosophy and similar disciplines to bring people together, deepen understanding of the human experience, and explore social or historical issues relevant to Arizona and beyond.
The kinds of projects supported might include public lectures or discussions, exhibitions, publications (with peer review), documentaries or film, broadcasts, educational programming, or community-engagement events that foster civic dialogue and cultural awareness.
There are two main types of grants. The first type is a larger “Project Grant,” which can provide up to $10,000 to support a full program or project. These grants are competitive, reviewed twice a year, and there is no fixed upper limit on the overall pool of funds — each applicant may request up to the $10,000 cap. The second type is a “Mini Grant,” which offers smaller amounts (up to about $2,000) and is meant for smaller-scale activities, capacity-building, planning, or shorter-term programming. These are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted for the fiscal year.
Eligibility requires that applicants be designated nonprofit entities (or public/government or academic institutions), and for Project Grants, also have a valid SAM Unique Entity Identifier. For Mini Grants, additional requirements include that the applicant’s annual budget is below a certain threshold, and the organization has not already hit that year’s Mini Grant limit.
The goal of these funds is to encourage thoughtful public engagement, build new audiences for humanities work, stimulate community dialogue and understanding, and offer platforms for cultural and historical programming that enrich civic life.
